You may have heard from a colleague or friend that they used Lotus Notes and that it was hopelessly old-fashioned?
Well, if they're still using Lotus Notes, which changed its name in the mid-90s to IBM Notes, I can understand that. However, there are some features that are different from MS Outlook, one example is the way folders are organized.
Latest release, as of date, called HCL Notes 12.0.1 and is a modern client for e-mail and applications. Lotus Notes was developed at the end of the 1980s by Lotus Corporation, which until then was best known for the groundbreaking spreadsheet Lotus 1-2-3.
The first versions of Lotus Notes were actually two different products; Lotus Notes on the PC and Lotus Notes Server in the back room. The server soon changed its name to Lotus Domino, and the latest version is now called HCL Domino server 12.0.1. Both server and client are available for various operating systems, including cloud solutions.
